With the holiday season in full-swing, along comes the time when people pull out those old family recipes (that are still out from Thanksgiving, if you're anything like me) and get to baking and cooking those wonderful, hearty dishes and desserts specific to each family. For my family that means a lot of soup. We make great soups and stews--and my mother's chili is to die for. As I go through this season with my 81 year-old grandmother--the pie perfectionist, and my 56 year-old mother--the brain of brews, I will document our kitchen adventures (which can, and frequently do, lead to butter fights; but that's another blog post for another day).
I hope you enjoy reading my posts and I'll give you warning now: not everything we make will be extraordinary or exciting. We like McDonald's burgers and heat-and-eat spaghetti with meatballs just as much as the next person. :P (For example: last night I boiled up some pasta that I don't even know the name of and dumped Hunt's Four Cheese sauce on top for a late dinner. Those days I'll try to post a little something interesting, like pictures or an amusing story, in place of a recipe.)
Happy holidays!
-Allie
